ED Bell
Ed Bell is songwriter, author, educator and entrepreneur. With Christian Duhamel he wrote the Kleban Award-winning musical My 80-Year-Old Boyfriend for Broadway actress Charissa Bertels, which premiered at The Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell, Massachusetts. In 2017 he was an Artist-in-Residence at Pearl Studio, Shanghai (formerly Oriental DreamWorks).
Ed’s work has been performed at The Laurie Beechman Theatre, The Duplex and The Frederick Loewe Room in New York, Brasserie Zédel and The Battersea Barge in London, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and around the world in cities including Leeds, Cambridge, Seattle and Calgary. As a musical director Ed has worked on projects at New York’s Signature Theatre, London’s Soho Theatre, Leeds Playhouse, Chester’s Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, The Nate Holden Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles and The Hamilton Family Performing Arts Center in Philadelphia.
As an educator, Ed created The Song Foundry, one of the Internet’s most popular songwriting resource sites. He’s the author of the bestselling book, The Art of Songwriting, and the popular 30-day songwriting challenges series. Ed is an alumnus of The BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in New York, and a member of ASCAP and The Dramatists Guild.
