Tim is an award-winning composer and musical director for theatre and commercial media. He has worked extensively with the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre of Scotland, Young Vic, Almeida Theatre and Sonia Friedman Productions.
Music includes The Omission of the Family Coleman (Ustinov, Bath), As You Like It, Titus Andronicus and The Two Noble Kinsmen (RSC), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (National Theatre), and Alexei Sayle’s Imaginary Sandwich Bar Series 1, 2 & 3 (BBC Radio 4). Upcoming shows include Daddy (Almeida) and Pericles (RSC). Tim also contributes songs to The Now Show (BBC Radio 4).
Other scores for theatre include Joe Turner's Come And Gone (Young Vic), The Secret Garden (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Dreamfighter (Lichfield Festival), The Bacchae (National Theatre of Scotland), As You Like It (Wyndham's), As You Desire Me (Playhouse), and Cinderella (Royal Theatre Northampton).
His community opera Cycle Song won the Royal Philharmonic Society Learning & Participation Award 2012. He was twice recipient of the Stiles and Drewe Best Song Award, and won the Vivian Ellis Prize for Best Musical for Beauty and the Beast.
He is currently the Musical Director of War Horse. Other Musical Direction includes Memphis (Shaftesbury Theatre), The Frogs (Jermyn Street Theatre), Just a Minute Does Panto (BBC Radio 4), and The Amen Corner (National Theatre).
He is currently writing The Chain with playwright Nicola Baldwin, and Bus Boycott with Roy Williams, commissioned by China Plate. He is an Associate Member of the Inner Magic Circle. Tim is also committed to the development of new musical theatre, and has mentored aspiring writers on the Book, Music and Lyrics course since its inception in 2011.
